Inert alumina balls are mainly used as support media for adsorbents and catalysts on reactor vessels and grids. They also assist in the distribution of liquid or gas through the catalyst bed. Chempack’s line of inert alumina balls is made with 99%+ alumina and very low silica contents, creating inert balls with high purity.
These balls are perfect fits for high-temperature catalytic reactors like the secondary reactors that ammonia plants have. The low silica content means there is a low chance for it to go downstream or affect the catalysts. They can also be used in supporting adsorbents for purifying reactive monomers like ethylene and propylene due to their low count of impurities.
